Contact information that is given voluntarily during report filing may be used by fire service reviewers to conduct a follow-up interview, if necessary.  We also reserve the right to collect, use and disclose any information we may deem necessary, in our sole discretion, to comply with any law, regulation, legal request, or to investigate or take action in connection with suspected fraud, illegal activities, possible harm to persons or property, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

All contact information, if voluntarily submitted, is removed from the report and destroyed.  In addition, the original report is destroyed and replaced by the de-identified version.  Both the contact information and the original report can not be recaptured.

The website uses a number of technological barriers to prevent any unathorized access to the data we gather.  This is done through the industry standard known as Secure Socket Layer technology. In addition, www.firefighternearmiss.com has established and maintained a number of administrative policies and confidentiality agreements designed to protect the information volunteered by our reporters.
